Introduction
From the Mind:
Thread and art needlework companies create a historic timeline of arts, crafts, and needlework trends in the home art industry, and have a social, artistic, and economic impact in the lives of the founders, employees, and artisans who create craft and textile artifacts.
From the Heart:
Quilt, Needle Art, and Textile History is a piece of women’s history, and these artifacts and stories need to be documented and saved so they will not be forgotten. Here’s the thing: Washington crossed the Delaware and got a lot of press about it, but no one mentions the items Martha made to kept him warm. But where would Washington have been without Martha’s contribution? It’s time for these ladies and men, who picked up a needle and created these beautiful works of art, to be recognized, studied, and remembered.
